Circle Officers

 

A circle typically has these officers:

Navigator: Calls and conducts all circle meetings and activities. He
attends monthly Expedition Bass Camp meetings. He provides leadership to the whole circle.
. Acts as the head of the circle, with full authority to call and conduct
all circle meetings.
. Responsible for the activities and programs of the circle.
. Assigns circle duties to all members.
. Responsible for ensuring that all Expedition Base Camp meetings are
attended by himself/herself, or another member of the circle.
. Responsible for ensuring that the recommendations and programs of the
Expedition are promoted and carried out.
. Responsible for safeguarding of all circle property, including written
and printed materials, and passing them on in full to the next circle
navigator.

Compass Bearer: Conducts special circle ceremonies. He assumes the
responsibilities of the Circle Navigator in his/her absence.
. Assists the Circle Navigator as required.
. Presides over circle meetings in the absence of the Navigator.
. Responsible for organizing and running special circle ceremonies when
appropriate.
. Responsible for acquisition and distribution of program materials as
required, such as bead holders, manuals, beads, Pinewood Derby kits, name
tags, vest patterns, patches, etc.

Legend Keeper: Records minutes of all circle meetings. Keeps up circle
history and traditions.
. Responsible for keeping an up-to-date roster of all circle members and
officers, and passing on the same to the Expedition Legend keeper.
. Keeps an up-to-date list of all beads earned by every circle member, and
attendance at all meetings and events.
. Keeps minutes of circle meetings and reports same to the circle at the
next meeting.
. Publicizes any circle activity by submitting information to the

Expedition Scout:
. Responsible for keeping the circle history - a file or scrapbook of past
invitations, projects, outing information, circle rosters, and other records
of circle activities.
. Collects photos and news of circle activities for publication in
Expedition publications, and provides them to the Expedition on request.

Treasure Keeper: Collects, disburses and accounts for all monies paid into
the circle.
. Responsible for collection of all money within the circle, and the proper
accounting and disbursement of same.
. Renews all memberships and dues in September of each year.
. Sees that membership application cards and fees for new members are
properly filled out and turned in to the YMCA.

Elder: A previous Circle Navigator or former Expedition Officer. He serves
as advisor to Navigator and circle.
. Serves in an advisory capacity to the Circle Navigator and the circle in general.
. Assists all other circle officers when needed, and may temporarily assume
their duties when required to do so by the Navigator because of an officer's
illness, resignation, or other causes.
