Guidance and details in Capt John Bennett's letter:
To: [YMCA Adventure Guides Girls]
From: John Bennett – The Salvation Army
Thank you so much for volunteering to help us with our Christmas efforts.
I can’t tell you how much you have helped us out in the past!
We are looking forward to a great year.
Dates: Girls are scheduled for Saturday December 13th, 2008
Hours:
1. The usual hours are: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Your Circle coordinates who rings on which shift. Most Circles have 1-hour shifts; others have 30-minute shifts.
2. I know that not every circle/tribe is able to work that: some want to go longer - and some have to quit earlier.
3. If a group/tribe finishes before a driver comes to get the bucket – just leave the bucket and bell at the service counter.
4. The same applies if a member of the group/tribe has to leave before the next member arrives.
Buckets and bells:
1. Buckets and bells are always placed at the customer service counters the night before you ring.
2. If for any reason a tribe cannot find a bucket and bell please call our office immediately – 303-779-9662 / 303-290-9043
3. Someone should be in our office until about noon that day.
4. If for any reason you have a problem at the location - call 303-779-9662 / 303-290-9043.
5. We don’t empty kettles during the day – but if there is an extreme situation where you simply cannot get another thing inside, give us a call. But be aware it can take up to two hours to get to the site in the afternoon.
Working with stores:
1. Please do not contact the stores to get approval to ring. We have already done that for you.
2. We make sure that indemnity agreements are signed.
3. We make sure that there are insurance certificates.
4. Remember – the stores see you as volunteers of The Salvation Army, not the YMCA. This has caused some confusion to stores and group/tribes in the past.
5. If you have any questions on this, please call me at 303-779-9662 / 303-290-9043.
Thank you very much and God bless.
